John, I might weld a gate or a jig for shop use, but there's no way I'm going to weld anything on my pressure hull myself. There are very few professional welders I would let touch it. Mistakes can be costly in more ways than one. I'll let others who know far more than I do share their thoughts on that. Another thought that will save you a lot of time and money on your big sub: Build a small 1-man or 2-man sub first whether it's your design or somebody elses. You'll learn enough to more than pay you back for diverting. When you want to learn how to fly, you don't start with a jumbo jet. Subject: Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] The sub Yes I knew from the beginning that I will have to
do days of research, I have been researching for about a year, and it will be
close to the UC3 Nautilus (check on youtube). My budget will be 200,000 us
dollars, I am already taking welding classes in case I need to
weld.
And have some books that I need to read also.
This submarine will be solely for exploration and some research, I really don’t
think this is a large sub but compared to other psubbers it is. My new
dimensions are 60ft length 8 feet od and in height 13 ft(conning tower). Also I
am learning programming so I can program some parts of the
ship.

What are you planing to do with such a large sub ? When I
first started I allso was allso in a hurry to get going but soon learned
with building a sub you go nowhere fast. You obviously have done a little
research allready check out the psubs archive .To build a sub the size you want
will cost a .....load of money and stacks of research.
