Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] The sub

Yes I knew from the beginning that I will have to do days of research, I have been researching for about a year, and it will be close to the UC3 Nautilus (check on youtube). My budget will be 200,000 us dollars, I am already taking welding classes in case I need to weld.
And have some books that I need to read also. This submarine will be solely for exploration and some research, I really don?t think this is a large sub but compared to other psubbers it is. My new dimensions are 60ft length 8 feet od and in height 13 ft(conning tower). Also I am learning  programming so I can program some parts of the ship.

Hi John
What are you planing to do with such a large sub ? When I first started I allso was allso in a hurry to get going but soon learned  with building a sub you go nowhere fast. You obviously have done a little research allready check out the psubs archive .To build a sub the size you want will cost a .....load of money and stacks of research.

Pretty simple question's

How thick does the hull have to be if my sub is 60 feet long and the main cylinder part is 40 feet with a diameter of 8 feet?
Also i would like to be able to dive 350m and crush depth to be 500m thats all, and would i need Ribs to support the inside of the sub?
Last, with this size what type of diesel engine would i need to go 25 knots on the surface and, an electric motor, how much kw or hp would i need to go 8 knots underwater?
The shape is literally a cylinder with half spheres on each end. I know these are a lot of questions but it is imperative I know them, all of them.

And the abs excel sheet, does anyone know how to use it? It is very vague on the instructions.
