Ummm, you might wish to change the name of this thread, since it has =
nothing to do with Nuytco subs - other than having Vance point out how =
cheap Antipodes is - relative to the very expensive Nuytco 'DeepWorker' =
class . . . (BTW, the standard DW is basic $675K not $900).

  Brian,

  I have some potentially good news for you, depending on how flexible =
your principal's wallets are. Antibodes is now back on the market. It's =
current deal fell through on Friday night and, as I understand it, the =
sub is available under the same conditions. It needs an ABS observed =
1000 foot dive to complete its certification (currently rated to 580, I =
believe, due to weather and time issues on dive day, not any structural =
or design problems). Antibodes is, and I mean IS, a really gorgeous =
vehicle, able to take five people in comfort, with unparalleled =
visibility from the pair of 130 degree X 58" OD acrylic end ports. It =
weighs 7 tons or so overall, 4000 pounds of which is the battery pack in =
twin pods. There is a manipulator available, Orcatron u/w comms, battey =
chargers and lots of other goodies. An ABS certified boat with this =
one's capabilities just isn't to be found anywhere else.

  One of your owners talked to Pete a couple of weeks ago and at the =
sale on the sub was still a go. That is no longer the case, so you could =
start fresh.

  There is another pressure hull built which could be picked up, if you =
want to outfit one rather than start from scratch, and enough pieces =
after that to assemble a third sub with the addition of the hull =
cylinder. I don't know what your budget situation is, or the time =
constraints, but Pete Hoffman could provide one or more serious =
shortcuts, should you and the owners be leaning that way.

  I don't want to quote prices, other than to say that the last deal on =
Antibodes was for $295,000. If I'm not mistaken, the update/overhaul on =
PC-1201 last year cost about that much, and they started with an =
operational sub, not a set of blueprints. As a further comparison, a new =
Deepworker 2000 runs $900K and the new Aquarius is going to be about =
$1.4M when completed. I don't think there is a better bargain on the =
market right now--not even close.

  Best Regards,
  Vance Bradley

  That would be great I would love to see it , and it is nice not to =
have to worry about weight and size the A-Frame will support 100 ton =
with no trouble at all we have had the stern under water once before not =
sure how much weight it was but I would rather not do it again but it =
handled it fine=20

  I'll dig it out and send a copy, if you like. We can talk some more =
about your design, if you think I can be of any help. You have the =
luxury of planning for ship-borne operations, which relieves the weight =
limitations substantially and allows for more of everything. I like some =
room, too, and need it more than I used to, unfortunately. Also, I like =
the big nose mounted window (Perry style) as it puts you inches away =
from things. The Deepworkers were fine, George's K-600 is okay, but all =
those types are designed for a seated operator, which I find very =
limiting and frustrating. Pete will have some ideas as well. He is not =
experienced with many vehicles, but is VERY experienced with his own. =
The Antibodes would probably have suited you guys beautifully. It has =
been sold, I understand. Too bad. Double check with him about that, =
though.

  If you are looking for something that size, then I'd say your visit =
with George Kittredge was more social than business. He thinks big and =
builds small, does Captain K. I do have the drawing for his K-1000, =
which is a 5' OD hull w/single pod stuck out the back and trim tanks for =
skids (gross weight 5200#, as I recall). He was never convinced that 2 =
people would be comfortable in there, but I always thought it would be =
perfectly viable. Still do, in fact.

  <DIV>Brian,</DIV>
  <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
  <DIV>I have some potentially good news for you, depending on how =
flexible your=20
  principal's wallets are. Antibodes is now back on the market. It's =
current=20
  deal fell through on Friday night and, as I understand it, the sub is=20
  available under the same conditions. It needs an ABS observed 1000 =
foot dive=20
  to complete its certification (currently rated to 580, I believe, due =
to=20
  weather and time issues on dive day, not any structural or design =
problems).=20
  Antibodes is, and I mean IS, a really gorgeous vehicle, able to take =
five=20
  people in comfort, with unparalleled visibility from the pair of 130 =
degree X=20
  58" OD acrylic end ports. It weighs 7 tons or so overall, 4000 pounds =
of which=20
  is the battery pack in twin pods. There is a manipulator available, =
Orcatron=20
  u/w comms, battey chargers and lots of other goodies. An ABS certified =
boat=20
  with this one's capabilities just isn't to be found anywhere =
else.</DIV>
  <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
  <DIV>One of your owners talked to Pete a couple of weeks ago and at =
the sale=20
  on the sub was still a go. That is no longer the case, so you could =
start=20
  fresh.</DIV>
  <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
  <DIV>There is another pressure hull built which could be picked up, if =
you=20
  want to outfit one rather than start from scratch, and enough pieces =
after=20
  that to assemble a third sub with the addition of the hull cylinder. I =
don't=20
  know what your budget situation is, or the time constraints, but Pete =
Hoffman=20
  could provide one or more serious shortcuts, should you and the owners =
be=20
  leaning that way.</DIV>
  <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
  <DIV>I don't want to quote prices, other than to say that the last =
deal on=20
  Antibodes was for $295,000. If I'm not mistaken, the update/overhaul =
on=20
  PC-1201 last year cost about that much, and they started with an =
operational=20
  sub, not a set of blueprints. As a further comparison, a new =
Deepworker=20
  2000&nbsp;runs $900K and the new Aquarius is going to be about $1.4M =
when=20
  completed. I don't think there is a better bargain on the market right =

  now--not even close.</DIV>
  <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>

  <DIV class=3DMsoNormal>I'll dig it out and send a copy, if you like. =
We can talk=20
  some more about your design, if you think I can be of any help. You =
have the=20

weight=20
  limitations substantially and allows for more of everything. I like =
some room,=20

big nose=20

The=20

frustrating.=20
  Pete will have some ideas as well. He is not experienced with many =
vehicles,=20

have suited=20
