I'm in Auckland about 200km South of the Bay of
Islands.
I normally go half way up & out from Whangarei for
serious fishing.
I know lots of South Africans over here, theres been a
flood
of imigrants in the last 10 years.
I'm working on my sub, but still lots to do. I'm using a blown dome wich
is in process of being made; when I get it & measure it I'll know what depth
I can go to & make my fiberglass hull to
match.
I'm going as small as I reasonably can & have
bought most of my components
so I know exactly what space I need. The object is to
make it easy to transport
& launch also maybe look in a few
caves.

Its what I have experienced our stuff goes to Europe
first are you close to Russell I spent some time there great
fishing.
I visited N.Z twice my wife and I were getting ready
to immigrate and last minute business opportunity came up put a stick in
the spokes.Have you started building your sub?

The problem with the standard thru hull you are
suggesting would take in excess of a month to reach me in this part of
the world ,is it a skin fitting type or does it also need to be
welded in?does one attach it to the C.T or some where else

We just voted on a standard
thru hull fitting that will accommodate the various underwater comms
to include UQC. I would suggest you use this fitting as future use
of it is all but ensured. I believe a club discount may exist
for this device.
The broadband system I am providing uses
4 wires at present with future construction making use of but only
two.
Someone steer Glen to the thru hull information as to
ordering and specifics
please.

Jens Laland! He seems to know this kind of stuff. I had a BQS-04
on my boat.
Something to make note
of...
BQS-* usually indicates "send"..
that's what the "s" designates.
BQR-*
usually designates "receive of listen" that's what the "r"
designates.
The BQR-2 system was the
system prior to the BQR-21 which my sub was equipped with and may
be a stave (a stack of one or more passive hydrophones arranged in
a single row.) In other words it may not be designed for active
transmissions at all. You have a gem there so be sure what it was
designed for before damaging it.
