The reason behind all this was that I canceled a planned purchase of a
Bruel & Kjaer Hydrophone Type 8103, intended to be used as reference
during calibration of home built hydrophones.

The 8103 was simply not worth the price they were asking, so I decided to
learn myself how to calibrate hydrophones without relying on any
calibrated references.

The transcription describes theory and methods of reciprocity calibration,
and I think this is our best option.

And maybe the money saved could be better spent on buying proper
hydrophone piezoceramics from production over runs. A good source would
