Hi Carsten.
Are you saying the only thing holding the dome in
place is a rubber holder (or with Peppers the bayonet lock) and the water
pressure is
all that is holding the dome in place against the
rubber holder? If this is true, how would you release the dome without first
counteracting the
outside water pressure against the dome if you had
exhausted all your interior air without letting water in to pressurize the
remaining air?
If I am intrepreting this correctly, wouldn't this
require you to either have enough interior air left to release the dome
off, or else you would have to
partially flood the hull to pressurize the
remaining air in order for the dome to release?
Or did I totally misunderstand you? Thanks
Carsten.
Kindest Regards,
Bill Akins.

Subject: Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] acrylic dome
escape pod question for Carsten.
Hi Carsten. If someone used the acrylic dome like
that, how would they detach it quickly from its hinge so it could float
free? How does this procedure work? Thanks. Kindest
Regards, Bill Akins.
Hi Bill - no hinges, just rubber
holder inside or as Peppers has - a bajonet lock.
But if some of
the guys has the time and possiblity to design a dome hatch hinges outside
system which can be release from inside - this would be a nice additional
saftey tool for any Psubs with domes on top of the hull or sail.
best regards
Carsten
