Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Stupid Idea was Burst Valve

Ok....I can't believe I'm even seeing this thread about " Burst Diaphragms "  and " scuttle valves".....There is no reason that any one would ever need to open up a pressure vessel to the sea let alone that it could possibly occur when it would be a total surprise....this is a joke ,,,right..  Think about it,,a one inch burst disc at 300 PSI....We spend a lot of MONEY and TIME figuring out how to keep the water out.

Keep in mind that if this valve opened, your gaining weight and going down
faster as the pressure is getting even greater where you'll take on even
more water sending you down faster etc. etc. Not a good idea!

A scuttle valve is just as it implies. For scuttling the sub as a very last
resort. Anything else that lets water in the sub would also be a very last
resort valve and you better be prepared to exit because your probably not
going to see the surface looking through the viewport again.
