Hi Alan,

They could be an upgrade if they alleviate flooding issues.  If I could get a good conversion between thrust and HP, I could assess whether the DC motor is more efficient than the Minn-Kota.  The 1/2hp motors are only drawing a max of 13.5 amps which I think is less than any of the Minn-Kota's.

I know we established that in some of the Minn Kotas there was no thrust bearing in them for the reverse direction.

Don't know if this applies to all. Does anyone else know?
