Hugh, The number 1 or 4 is the
number of low pressure ports. 1 LP port is needed. We monitor the content of
the bottle with a gauge outside . To be viewed trough the the dome. This saves
throughhulls and plumbing. Cheers, Emile Ps. The Apeks is also
good in cold water; I dived yesterday SCUBA in water of 1 Deg. Celcius. : no
freezing problems but sub dives are warmer….. Van: owner-personal_submersibles@psubs.org
[mailto:owner-personal_submersibles@psubs.org] Namens Hugh Fulton Thanks Emile and Sean, I have never come across Apeks but just
googled it and now better informed. I will go with Apeks 1st
stage. What is the difference between DS1 and DS4? I like the idea of all regs outside with
secondary regs inside, if required, for oxygen where constant pressure for
constant flow is required. I am looking for a small panel mount second
stage now. The only problem with regs outside is
you need another 2 ports for contents monitoring. I am a bit short
of through hull’s. I have 12 x ¼”npt and 10 x ½”
npt and 2 x 1” npt. I thought that would have been heaps. I have finally had my hull tested at 515
ft with windows in and now fitting the hull to the fibreglass fairing.
Getting closer. Chs, Hugh From: owner-personal_submersibles@psubs.org
[mailto:owner-personal_submersibles@psubs.org] On Behalf Of Sean T. Stevenson I just want to second the endorsement of Apeks SCUBA
regulators. I have used many different makes and models over the years,
and the Apeks are the only ones I never regretted purchasing. I have
several DS4's and a couple of the newer ones, and will no longer buy anything
else. Hugh, You mean the dive tank
regulators right ? They reduce the pressure
to about 10 Bar over ambient. If you have them inside, You cannot blow tanks
when you are deeper than 100 Metres (=10 Bar) So better store tanks an
regulators outside on a 1ATM sub. For oxygen no difference
but store outside saves room inside… I Like the Apeks DS1 or
DS4 but any rugged and common regulator will do the job. Emile Van:

Namens Hugh Fulton Placement of regulators and choice of them. For Air and oxygen. Is it best to have the
regulators inside or outside the pressure hull? I noticed that some have
the regs outside and others inside. What brand/models have people found the best?
Hugh
