Jens has a good point here. Having links to the ABS and CG reference material is all well and good. But like it was pointed out, they are not tailored for our purposes. With cutting/pasting we can take all pertinent information regarding construction, safety and operation and compile our own 'Psubs.org Standards' that does not require sifting through umpteen thousand pages for a (what we would call) simple answer. I know we have these references, but my concern is: I do not believe hyperlinks on our website to various third-part documents will be considered (or understood) as being part of our own recommended design and building practices? Being "one catastrophe away from congressional intervention" is a serious next-event for this group. Vance also wrote in his posting of June 9, under the "submarine kit-builder's society rules" thread, quote: ** Let us not consider waiting for a fatality to prove or disprove any of ** this. I have met and become friends with many of the folks on this list. ** I admire them all for their grit and skill and enthusiasm. Our job here ** is to share that, and to promote safety along with our peculiar passion. My proposal is that we continue making our own documents. In doing so we could include (cut and paste) sections and paragraphs from third part documents. We should also consider to modify such sections and paragraphs as we see fit to better suit our own type of vessels and operations. Then, at least we will have some documentation of our own to show the authorities when the said next-event comes. Besides, I don't think the psubs mailing list archive will do as any feasible document in any dispute with anybody but ourselves. Best regards, Jens Laland
