These little battery operated airators used for keeping live bait alive if the delivery pipe was attached to the bottom of a flask with some none toxic oil in the flask the air should rise through the oil and the moisture remain below.

Just an idea:

What about making an apparatus with a certain "family resemblance" to a
CO2 scrubber, but using regular bentonite dry clay instead of soda lime in
this one.

Bentonite (sodium montmorillonite) is actually capable of obtaining 12
times it's own volume of water during swelling.
