 David, I'll probably make it after I get my hull 
made. 
It seems to suite my need. It won't cause much drag, & 
It will only be needed  for making sure  
I don't rise in the path of a boat 
or for gaining orientation. I like Jons web cam idea. 
Looking at my web cam, I could suspend it inside a tennis 
ball & pour crystal clear casting 
resin round it; should be pressure resistant 
enough. 
While thinking on it further it might be better to 
put a solid rod inside a pipe instead of a  
pipe in a pipe. you could then add an O ring if 
necessary.
