Hello Jon yes we had to use steel could not find any aluminum that size without importing it from Russia at a cost of 10k per foot a little outside the budget considering we needed 24 feet, the wall thickness is .598 true sch 40 seamless the ends are stainless plate milled and counter set into the other face so I think they will work fine the bolts where an afterthought but the more I look the more I like them. I will photo the insides as I mount them to show how we did them

Yes, I did and they look great.  I see you ended up with steel.  What 
thickness did you use?  I also like the method you chose to clamp the 
heads in place.  Were the ends "buttered" with stainless and machined?
