Yep, that's got to be rough on the diver at times. It looks like they have the external diver controls on the Ocean Pearl 2 person model, that has a max depth of 500 fsw.
As near as I can tell they don't have them on the Triumph 3 person model, that has a max depth of 1,500 fsw.
"15. External Diver Station This optional external diver station allows the operator to pilot the craft from the exterior and allow for two untrained occupants to be in the cabin. When activated, the external diving station has the master controls. The external diver is to be on SCUBA and a full-face mask connected in the submersible."

Besides, it is a little rough on a diver controlling the sub from the outside at `500 fsw. J R/Jay Resepectfully, Jay K. Jeffries Andros Is., Bahamas Save the whales, collect the whole set. Alan, I was more concerned with the hydrodynamic drag. I forgot about the stopping issue.
I didn't realize before today that the some or all of the SEAmagines have external controls just behind the acrylic pressure hull for a SCUBA diver pilot. I can see it having some uses for rescue. But I'm not sure how useful it is over all. I'd much rather pilot a sub inside, nice and dry. Not to mention the sea monsters. ;} I do have plans forming to be able to operate my sub unmanned as a ROV to greater depths then I would want to go manned.
