They will more likely gall.  Nuke fittings are all SS and we heavily coated all threads with molybdenum Never-Seize and we would still have difficulties with galling at times.  It was a bitch when a valve cap galled (most likely component for it to happen to) as the whole valve would have to be cut out and replaced…a nasty over-haul!

What if you just coated the threads and nuts with some good quality supper stinky aquarium type silicone to keep the saltwater out, and keep the SS from galling?
