RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Soft ballast venting valve

Hi Frank,
I went to the boat yard today and found some very nice bronze ball valves. The body is bronze and the ball is stainless with some type of plastic insert around the ball, probably delron or something similar. I think rather than some exotic butterfly valve I will settle for this. They are readily available and a lot cheaper. And then I'll go with the stainless Swagelock components for HP air. I wonder if there would be any problem with going from a stainless flange and then using a stainless nipple to a bronze ball valve.

Brian

Hi Frank,

if I'm reading this correctly, you can only blow your main tanks
once while at operating depth. Have you considered increasing
the amount of compressed air you carry so you have more chances
of surfacing? I think ABS recommends enough air to blow the main
tanks 6 times at operating depth (somebody correct me if I'm wrong,
I don't have the ABS book in front of me).

Thanks for the pictures, this sub looks really unique! I still
want to come and visit you soon!

Cheers,
  Ian.
