RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Rainy day work

The two small stainless steel strings used on the Nemo's hatches look nice and would be pretty maintenance free. But making them releasable with the hatch is the tricky part.  If you used a stainless steel double spring arrangement like on the R300 you could make the rear spring attachment point manually releasable with a couple of levers.

I hate to say it, but I'd rather see you install a center mounted locking means that can be easily opened from the inside or outside, like on the S101, Alicia, and the Euronaut.

If a flooding or sinking is about to happen, I'll open the rear dog. The pressure will keep the hatch closed. Then,  on scuba, release the air bubble in the hatch, open the last two dogs, and raise the hatch. I'm looking at the 30 cu.ft. tanks. The dimensions are 4 inch by 21 inch, and will be easy to exit through the hatch with.
With the rear dog open, a rescue diver can pull the hinge pin, and lift the hatch off from the back. I have tried it ( Don't have the hinge pin brackets made yet) and it works. Just pull up on the hatch and slide it back about an inch, and it clears the hole.
This is of course without a spring attached. Not sure how to overcome that one. Still refining the whole hatch spring concept. Frank D.
