Yea. Those days really suck. That's when I put the tools away and chill out
for a while. Remember, it's supposed to be FUN!
I've noticed that there are in fact hard spots in the sheet of 516-70
steel I am using. Maybe there's still a piece of the bit still in the hole,
in which case you'll never get through it. This happens sometimes. It is
possible to get a small ''hole saw'' type bit and drill around the hole/bit.
Then you'd need to weld the hole shut and re-drill. You might take the piece to
a local machinist. He can get the piece out with carbide bits.
You can also drill some very small holes around the bad hole, and then
remove the broken piece. You'll still have to weld the hole shut and start over.
If heat is a problem, the machinist plan seems like the best option to me.
