There is a company called Xantrex who manufacture all types of battery
monitoring gauges etc, which will give amps used, volts, amps
remaining, battery % left etc. In fact just about all readings you
require to monitor your batteries. We use them in the Marine industry,
and they are very reliable. This monitor will do up to 500 volts etc
with  a prescaler

Ok, this is a stupid question but it has been bugging me.
         How do you know how much charge you have in your batteries?
Other
than keeping track of how long you have run your motors how can you
tell.
I know that the wwII subs would have to check the battery acid levels
to accurately know how much power was in the batteries.  But with the
sealed AGM or gel batteries you can't measure the acid, and chances
are you wouldn't be able to anyway in a small sub.
