A thought on "shiny" - there is nothing more impressive than the cognicenti
seeing something engineered properly.  Well polished stainless steel makes a
statement all of its own  ;-)

Besides the fact that cracks are more apparent in well polished metal.

BTW, regarding the heavy hatch issue . . . is there room in your hatch area
to install (van/stationwagon) liftgate piston thingies (struts)?
