Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] I Disagree Rick
Hi Rick,
I've been around here since almost the beginning of the group....I just
don't participate all that often but read most of the posts. Regarding the
sub on my webpage....I sold that about 2 years ago to a guy down in Texas
who bought out the rights to Taylor Submarine, the company that originally
built my sub. The more I studied sub design and learned about Taylor
Submarine, the more I realized the sub I had would not be a viable design
and so I decided not to pursue finishing it. It probably would have been ok
for an ambient design but Taylor claimed it was designed as a 1 atm good to
600'!!
The portholes were only about 1/4" thick plus they were heated to conform to
the curves in the conning tower! Plus the hatch was square...not a good
design for pressure!
Anyway, my current plans are to build a Kitteridge sub. I'm slowly
gathering the tools I need to build it with...I currently have a metal
lathe, plasma cutter, mig welder, etc. I'm debating on whether to build a
stock K-350 or modify the design to be closer to the K-600 since the plans
for the K-600 aren't available. Other than helping out Dan H. being a
safety diver when he first launched his sub, I haven't been too active with
subs lately. (Hi Dan...I still owe you that video CD of your sub!). I'm
currently building a closed circuit rebreather and would like to finish that
before I start in on my sub.
Anyway, thst's my story and I'm sticking to it!! ;-)
I suppose I should update my webpage some day!
