I missed the beginning of this thread so if I'm way off context, please forgive.  I understand that your query is semi-academic so here's a semi-academic response.  The process of making soda lime is fairly straightforward.  *However*, the question I would pose is whether you're willing to trust the quality of your results enough to place your health and welfare (read, "life") in the balance.  Without fairly strict process controls I'd question my ability to accurately and safely predict the life-support capabilities of the system based around a DIY CO2 adsorbent.
