Well, you can't beat a gas shielded wire feed welder (MIG) for speed and
ease of use (Point at spot to weld and squeeze trigger), but they make the
weakest welds.  A TIG is used for making very precise welds.  The strongest
welds actually come from the cheapest and most simple type, the stick
welder.  These welders are much more simple in design, but require a bit of
skill to use.  Sort of like the difference between a manual and an automatic
transmission.
