I-don't-even-have-a-welder-yet sort of beginners here. Curses!: As a kid, I
watched my dad, a pipefitter, weld all sorts of things all the time -- and
it never even occurred to me to pay attention in a learning-how sense.

junk I'm likely to weld together around here -- and still be useful for the
occasional sub-experiment type projects I have in mind.

I went through the same arguement with myself a few months ago, before I
started my K250.. I finally decided on a ac/dc welder, a miller, 150 amp dc
and 225 amp ac.. this seems to be ok for the job, and I have not yet
exceeded the duty cycle.. I am only welding with 1/8 rod though, although I
did do a small ammount of 5/32 .. I decided unless you want to spend over
2000.00 to get a good wirefeed welder, that the ol' stick welder is a better
buy..... just my thoughts.. I took a welding course in the evenings at a
college close to my house.. and I have 2 friends that are pressure welders
that gave me some help/tips.. that seems to be ok.. and I am getting much
better at welding now.!!
