Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] SeaBlaze3 LED bench test

Hi Jon,
The 501 B has a 4.2 volt battery wich I couldn't get in NZ, so had to order the batteries & charger with it.
I haven't oil filled & dived with my modified flash light (on psubs). Swam through a cave with the unmodified
version & it took in water despite having O rings everywhere, this didn't leave me with a lot of confidence that it
would hold in oil.
Initially I thought I could run 3 of these lights in series off 12 volts but because of the 3 mode circuitry it
won't function properly.
20 days ago I ordered 3 x 900 lumen dive lights that run off 12v, but they haven't been dispatched yet.
In a live chat with a Chinese customer support person, I asked her if she could kick someone in the bum really hard.
I like Deal Extreme, they have customer comments & videos so you know what you're in for. They have some good
deals but they've stuffed things up a few times.
Latest order below. There is a video of a tech diving team using them on a 70 meter dive, so won't have to oil fill these.

Hopefully Lea will respond, but I don't think Lumens by themselves are enough to determine how well a particular LED will perform, especially underwater.  The beam pattern matters as much and is either achieved by putting lenses over the LED or by encapsulation via a reflector (flashlight is good example).

Have you powered up your ultrafire 801b?  The more I look at it the more I like it.

Now you've got me researching Cliff.
In this comparison chart it says 25-28 watt leds put out 2,600 lumens.
Lea Nichols is a bit of an expert in this field, below is a previous post of his that is informative.
