Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Kittredge Motor Housing help

Jim,

The motor housings are 1ATM and certainly strong enough for that purpose.  However, as Dan mentioned, I do recall reading someplace that there were some leaking issues.  I don't remember if I read that in George's book or in some documentation I have.  The K600 calls for a Crane-8B3 mechanical seal whereas the K-350 calls for a US Seal PS-309 mechanical seal.  Frankly I'm not sure how the Crane makes a good seal since it has no spring loading to keep it snug against it's counterpart in the tank head.  It uses set-screws to keep it in place, but if the seal surface wears there doesn't appear to be way for it to stay snug.

Jon,

No pressure compensation on the motors?  Just depends on a very effective shaft seal?
