That's a good idea I'll eventually consider.  At the moment I'll likely just leave the configuration as is.  Permanently mounting the motors would gain back some much needed room inside the cabin, and that was my only thought at the time but I'll get some experience with the current configuration and then make a decision at some point in the future.

It might work well to install electric actuators to rotate the motors on their shafts.  They don't require frequent adjustment on any given dive, so the battery drain is minimal.  If you want to set up duplicate controls at the conning tower and the forward position, that's certainly doable.  Giving up the ability to rotate the orientation of the motors seems like a big sacrifice.
