Hi Jon,
I think that's a good approach. There's an old adage that applies to
restoring/redesigning anything: "Bring everything up to original first,
test next, then modify." While that isn't always practical, it's a good
principle to start with. Some things one might expect to be a problem turn
out to be no big deal, and other that seem to be no big deal turn out to be a
royal pain in the patoot. It also makes it easier to determine if a glitch
was present in the original or was introduced somehow when you made the
modification.
Oh yeah, there's also the one about asking those who have already done
it. Vance and others do come in handy, don't they?
