Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] USA Corps of Engineers submersibles policy

What about releasing a dive flag from your sub before surfacing, then wait a few minutes before surfacing.

And it sounds like this upcoming policy is only for submersibles, and not scuba or other forms of diving?

Jon,
What are the objections to sub ops by the CE? It might serve us better to find that out, rather than try to second guess the bean counters and agree ourselves into a corner. Or many corners, come to that. What we want is for the powers that be to address this with our best interests at heart, rather than a more negative (and more likely) approach where they simply listen to and dismiss our suggestions out of hand. We need to know their concerns.

I assume you mean as a service to the Corps?  I don't know if the Corps might require such service, but as an organization I would not be able to commit anyone to performing such service.  However, I could certainly represent that if they required such services we could point them to some members who might be willing to enter into a contract to perform those services.  I'm also assuming that if the Corps required such services there would be potential legal issues with insurance, certification, etc.

That's exactly what I meant.  The paperwork would have to be worked out to the satisfaction of both sides, but the mere possibility that it could happen might be worth something.
