Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] USA Corps of Engineers submersibles policy

I assume you mean as a service to the Corps? I don't know if the Corps might require such service, but as an organization I would not be able to commit anyone to performing such service. However, I could certainly represent that if they required such services we could point them to some members who might be willing to enter into a contract to perform those services. I'm also assuming that if the Corps required such services there would be potential legal issues with insurance, certification, etc.

I've just finished talking with the Corps of Engineers regarding the restriction against submersible use in bodies of water within the Huntington District. The current restriction will remain in place until a team is created to address a permanent policy for submersible use in that area with the goal to have that policy in place prior to the start of the 2012 boating season. Since most of the waters in the district have already begun to be drawn down for the winter, hopefully the winter pause in operations will not have tremendous impact on us. The District Commander has opened the door for PSUBS to play an integral role with his staff in developing the policy and we will certainly participate as much as possible to represent our interests. I will be tapping some PSUBS members on the shoulder to participate in policy discussion with the Corps.

Is there something PSUBS members might do, using their submarines, for the Corps?
