I think your proposed release arrangement would easily suffer from frozen
threads after an extended period of no use.

Hans Techel's arrangement appears to offer something like a 2.5 to 1
mechanical advantage, which, in your case, the downward force required (by
the vertical threaded rod onto the locking hook) would be about 280 lbs.
Finally, you'll have the additional "help" from the the axial thrust
produced by the threaded rod.
