Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Getting Started
A good idea worth considering.
First, I urge caution using the web forum for sub discussion.
Unfortunately, the people with the most knowledge in our group whom are
able to guide people correctly do not have a preference for that type of
venue. There is some amount of misinformation within it. While I have
no aversion to the forum, even I am very lax at going in there regularly
to do any cleanup or check out any new posts. Perhaps this is the time
to discuss this with the advisory council and see whether we keep that
forum or not.
However, using the forum as a wiki is a great idea since it makes
managing it rather simple. All we need is a wiki-manager.

There is also a web based forum on the site that isn't fully utilized! It
already does sort of function as a place for newbies... there is a meet and
greet section etc... as for a wiki.... there are lots of engineering skills
needed to build a sub... where does the wiki start and where does the wiki
stop? :) to build a sub.. you need a firm grasp of physics, mathematics,
hydro/fluid dynamics, materials scientist, electrical technician/engineer,
mechanical engineering (seals etc), as well as the health and safety
aspects...
That's a pretty big wiki/FAQ :)
