RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 'two types sonar used

Both units use a very simple serial port interface into a laptop and a very small program to run it I am also working on a computer that when finished will be 2 inches by 4 inches by 4 inches with a 13" screen to run them in the sub and the keyboard will be an IPhone it will also have a digital direction tilt and yaw sensor in it, I got the Idea from edgetech side scan sonar we had our's factory serviced and they replaced all the components which still worked just not able to run the new version of software so I started playing around built a case and installed the compass in the same case it runs on 12 volts uses a 500gig laptop drive I will have about 200 dollars in it less the Iphone, so to answer your question it's very easy to use the data

I am very jealous!

Could you tell us a little about the systems? Are these units displaying
data on a laptop/desktop system or on a dedicated display? How hard would
it be to get the data out of the sonar system for use in a third party
application?

Cheers!
 Ian.
