Very sincere thanks to whoever recommended Kurson's book _Shadow 
Divers_. I downloaded a text file of it (it will be months before any 
printed copy reaches me here in northern Mindanao), and it is a treat. 
Just as well I believed the list member who recommended it, and not the 
review that I read later; the reviewer classified it as "young adult" 
literature and made it sound like a science project report. Instead, it 
contains gems of English prose like the following:

"Shipwrecks are where the food chain poses for a snapshot."

Thomas Wolfe couldn't do better, in my opinion. I have made the grave 
error of beginning to read it - you know, just to get the flavor. Now 
it's cutting into my translation work.
