Dean ,
It goes active when you plug in the transducer
cable . With the headphones plugged in you can go thru the operating menu
to select the parameters you want , like " VOX "or "push to talk"
etc.
The operators manuals for the units you have
are available on their website . Along the top pull down menu
click on "extras", then click on "library files". Plenty of bed side reading
!

Dan or Cliff I have another question for you.
How do you turn the 2010 on? It seems a little silly
to
put in a bucket of water hehhe

Dean,
When you cut the transducer extension
cable that comes with CDK-6 kit there is an outer braided aluminum
shield and one center copper conductor cable. You will need
to solder both the copper conductor and the braided shield to
corresponding pins on the electrical penetrator so there is continuity
for proper functioning of the comms. ( Just gather the braided
shield together enough so it fits into one of the conductor
pins on the penetrator).

Dan I have just received my SSB-2010 and a STX-101. I am
confused on what you
mean by reconnect the outer shield. I have not received
my CDK-6- kit yet but I am
thinking a couple of wires with a braided or aluminum
shield.
Do you mean attaching the shield with a thru
conductor?

I am using OTS equipment and am very happy with it . I have a
couple of SSB-2010s for use in the sub (or subs) and a STX-101
Surface unit . I did alot of research before I made any
purchases. OTS has been in business for over 25 years and
manufactures a reliable product . Spliceing the wire to
an electrical penetrator is no big deal , just make sure to
reconnect the outer shield . Cliff Redus is also using OTS . Go
to the Psubs Web site , click on "Resources and References" on
the Top drop down menu , then click on communications on the left
hand side column. Cliff did an outstanding job of documenting his
setup ! Dan Lance
