RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] CO2 absorbant efficiency
Hi Jon,
No I am not comfortable with ABS number and would much rather go with
Phil's. However I think Phil has a lot better chance of getting his number
past ABS than I would somehow. So I have no choice other than to use ABS
number. Once I have a bit more experience, I may be able to pull back on the
amounts. It is a real weight saving if you can. Those scrubbers of Phil's
are smart. I am amazed at being able to use such a small fan. His looked
about 3" diameter and the other ones seem to be a lot bigger. Too much
airflow obviously doesn't give enough contact time. I never saw what Cliff's
results were. Are they on the site somewhere? Hugh

Hi Hugh,
Yes, I think if you are comfortable with using that number from ABS then
there's no need for counting breaths per minute and determining tidal
transfer volume from respiration. Keep in mind though that the
0.115lbs/hr had to come from some calculation of those two variables.
There's no way to reach any fixed number of CO2 output without breathing
and measuring CO2 over a certain time period. Nothing will beat an
actual test of the system as Phil and Cliff performed to get actual results.
