Joe, I would never have thought it, but I have heard Alaska is really bad also! Good advice...Sun screen and repellent...won't leave home without them. Thanks. To which species do you refer David, the Night-stalkers, or the Cattle Killers? The good news is, that the transfusion centers are only 60 miles apart, so know your blood type. :) Mosquitoes are environmental and time variable, morning and dusk are worst. Try going to Flamingo this time of year for some fishing in the glades and you are toast. Repellant works well. On the beach out in the sun, you wont see them except in the shade of trees. My wife has health issues that will prevent my future attendance for at least the foreseeable future and I sure hope to meet you in Florida. In spite of the many interactions with many of the members of this fine group, I have met with only one fellow submarine enthusiast and He has since sadly to say left this group. I am referring to Doug Jackson in Tulsa. The list of wonderful people within this group with whom I have had the pleasure to interact is very long and I wish to meet face to face with ach and every one of them. This fleet of submarine sailors is truly inspiring. Here is my dumb question for the day...with the everglades and all, are the mosquitoes bad in the Florida? See you in Florida God willing! Here's one story... http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/12/28/tsunami.diver/index.html Hoping that time will allow me to drag the family over to Ft Pierce when you guys are here. Take care Joe From: dbartsch2236@hotmail.com To: personal_submersibles@psubs.org Subject: [PSUBS-MAILIST] a passing thought Date: Sun, 30 May 2010 01:44:01 -0400 In what seems like a daily increase in seismic activity World wide, I remembered a particular Indonesian tsunami in which entire coastal villages were completely destroyed. Local fishermen upon returning home from a day at sea found the harbors from which their boats operated from were no more and a sea of destruction and debris was all that remained. This enormous wave of energy had passed under them undetected... What would such an event have been like if experienced while submerged in a submarine? David Bartsch The New Busy is not the too busy.
