Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] PSUBS 2010 Convention Update
A good time to bring up some other dive issues. First, we have a team
of local divers who have offered to act in a safety capacity. I have
told them that one diver per submersible should suffice. Do we need more?
Because we will be in navigable waters, my interpretation of Coast Guard
requirements is that any surface vessel providing support needs to fly
the "A" alpha flag because of reduced mobility. It's not clear to me if
the "cove" we will be in is far enough out of the way of other traffic
that we don't need these flags.
A diver-down flag is required for scuba divers.
Each sub should tow a buoy on the surface so we know where you are.
Should we standardize on a buoy type?
Each sub needs a VHF radio so we can communicate on the surface. I have
two hand-held VHF radios that I will be bringing with me. We'll need to
agree upon a channel for comms.
Underwater comms can hopefully be achieved with David Bartsch's
devices. Because they use audible frequencies, divers should also be
able to hear instructions.
We should plan on a "dive" meeting to work out any details between
subbers and scuba-divers.
comments?

This will be my first Psubs convention and all I have so far are my schematics. Those aren't even finished yet and have gone through a couple re-designs. I cant wait to get some input from you guys.
As far as the diving at the site with SCUBA, who all is planning on bringing their gear to be safety divers or for fun?
