Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Fort Pierce - Boat Ramp

Update:

I've been talking to Bill O'Dell, a local resident who has offered to help us out with diving issues. He's a scuba instructor, CPR instructor, and does some things with the Coast Guard as well. He thinks he may have found a location for us with about 20 foot depth and also out of the way of regular traffic. I'll be posting a new map soon, but if you look at the chart on http://www.psubs.org/convention/2010/diveloc/maps.html and find Dive Location #2, then look directly left from the RED #2 to the box shaped area showing 17 and 23 foot depth, this is supposedly a good dive spot. It has enough depth and because it is essentially a "U" shape, there is little to no current in this area. It is also out of main channel traffic and is suppose to have good visibility.

If you locate the blue area marked as "6" feet near the shore (about 10 o'clock from the RED #2), this is a sandy beach area from which observers can watch. Boat rentals are available from a marina just north of here, but off the chart.

Bill has a connection with someone who will be able to provide towing from the boat ramps as well.

Jon
