Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] New Guy from down under needs help

Thanks Jon
Yes very interesting I'm sure we will find that this is the way to go for some of us. The Florida convention would seem to be an ideal venue for all of us to gain this knowledge, and fire the appropriate questions to suit our requirements. With that thought in mind I will delay my contact so that he is not be inundated with repetitive questions. Please let me know your decision and the outcome. Also with the convention in mind, time, distance, and of course money prohibits my attending, however a future year will certainly be on my agenda when I have further progressed with my project. Is there any plans to video the workshops / lectures for those of us in my situation??
Thank you again
Cheers
Les
P.S. Jens Laland email re corrugated construction and surfaces confirms some experimenting I have been undertaking.

Les,

I think you will find these experiments interesting....tests of stainless steel, glass fiber, and carbon fiber cylinders to collapse. The glass and carbon fiber models collapsed at lower pressures than the steel, but there is no data in the video regarding the wall thickness of the cylinders so it's unclear to me if they are apple-to-apple comparisons. Very interesting none-the-less and this researcher has been at it for a long time. It might be worth contacting him. I'm tempted to invite him to Florida for the convention....I think he'd be an excellent and interesting speaker.

Jon
