As mentioned before, I have steel rollers on the bottom of my sub.
6 rollers in a row, with two smaller rollers. One in front of the 6 wheel
row, and one behind.
These 8 rollers are part of the drop weight "pan" and are meant to make the
sub easy to roll around on the floor and for launching/retrieving at the boat
ramp.
The larger roller wheels are 4 inch diameter while the two smaller rollers
are 3 inch diameter. The sub will "teeter" on the 6 rollers and the sub can spin
on the floor when it's balanced between the two smaller rollers.
All the rollers are "fixed" so no swivel is used.
Large rubber tires could have a use but probably not for towing. Having
built several trailers over the years, the balance and tongue weight must be
balanced or a trailer gets real "squirrely" when being towed.
With the average psub weighing 3 tons, you wouldn't want it doing anything
weird back there.
Wasn't that green and red Ukranian sub wheeled ? I think it was mostly
fiberglass and maybe didn't weigh that much.
Here's the sketch again of my drop weight carriage with the rollers.
