XXH or XXS means Double Extra Heavy (or Strong). A 1/2" nipple, for instance, has 1/4" walls. A 1" SS pipe at HHX strength (Schedule 160) has a burst pressure of over 6000 psi. The other kind of 1/2" nipple (David, you old letch) is another topic altogether.

I used a chunk of round stock steel that I turned to the proper OD and bored it to the ID of XXH pipe then put a pipe thread on each end. I searched for pipe nipples but couldn't find them either.
