Jon is giving you the correct advice. Do not weld with MiG. If you have your heart set on using Wire feed welding then you must use the Flux Core ( Dual Shield) or SAW (Submerged Arc) processes. But be prepared to spend $4000.00 to $5000.00 and/or $10,000.00 for suitable welding machines and feeders. Tig roots and stick for filler and cap passes is the way to go. Look at this Tig/Stick machine on Ebay. Ebay item # 390060365662 Model # WSE200P . Alec Smyth has one simlar to this and has gotten good service from it. Of course if you have the budget then go with name brands like Miller or Lincoln and then you maintain resale value.
