Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Wikipedia like psub building wiki
Hi Sean,
I agree with you. Your idea of linking is good and something I've
already started doing. When it makes sense to do so, I'm linking to
other sources (Wikipedia, etc) both in text and at the bottom under
"Additional Resources". For example, I added an entry for the Kort
Nozzle discussion going on now and just gave a brief summary with links
to Wikipedia and the PDF file that Cliff sent out.
As far as the mailing list archives, we can link to the individual email
as you suggested, or to an entire thread. Each email in the archive has
a link to others of the same thread, so we could link to the beginning
topic and just let people continue reading the thread from the supplied
thread-links.
There's a lot of flexibility, but you are correct that someone needs to
volunteer for the task.

Jon - one of the most formidable challenges with bringing "gem"
threads out of the archives for inclusion in a Wiki will be the task
of re-writing them in a stand-alone format. For example, the thread
we had a while back on pressure vessel welding covered a lot of ground
with a handful of different contributors, so you could simply copy and
paste the whole thread (or link to it in the archives) in the Wiki,
but preferably a summary article would go in the Wiki covering all the
major points without a reader having to follow the conversation from
start to finish. - the problem being that someone needs to volunteer
for the task.
