As I mentioned in my email, I believe David's system could easily be
modified to work with one hydrophone, thus only needing 2 pins.

If Davids communication system requires four connector pins, then a
standardized electrical bulkhead penetrator based on two connector pins
would be rather useless for testing his equipment, wouldn't it?
