Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] NACA 65-020 High Aspect Ratio Fin Development

Not a sub, but as we are talking foils etc.

The International Moth sailing dinghy is a hydrofoil. It's a very small boat (~3m), and the world record speed is ~30 Knots...

Again, not a sub but kinda cool.

Jay,

What software are you using? I'd be interested in a review/comparison of any NA design software youve used.

I once rode in a water taxi in Greece that had those foils in the water. Once we hit about 25 MPH that boat popped right out of the water and really took off! It was amazing how smooth it was jammin' across the water. The ride was about 45 minutes or so. We beat the slower ferry by about 3 hours. Haulin' ass! Well worth the extra cost. The foils were shaped like that and were "set" with no attack angle adjustment. With higher speeds the foil shapes have a huge impact on performance.
