I once rode in a water taxi in Greece that had those foils in the water.
Once we hit about 25 MPH that boat popped right out of the water and really
took off! It was amazing how smooth it was jammin' across the water. The ride
was about 45 minutes or so. We beat the slower ferry by about 3 hours. Haulin'
ass! Well worth the extra cost.
The foils were shaped like that and were "set" with no attack angle
adjustment. With higher speeds the foil shapes have a huge impact on
performance.
