Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Sonar Testing

Jay, was the Cadaver dog free diving or using scuba gear?
It amazes me what you Americans have over there.

David,

Body searches are probably the worst kind of diving that there is.  I hope to never have to do another.  An alternative, effective solution is to use a cadaver search dog trained for water searches.  The record find that I know of is a dog determining the location of a body in 197 ft. of water in a quarry in North Jersey.  When the diver went down, the body was within 10 feet of where the K-9 alerted to the cadaver?s scent.

Jay,

I do not know how experienced the divers were that these guys were using, but the body was eventually found snagged in an underwater tree remnant. This would have been a serious problem for any tethered ROV or submarine as the entire lake was formed by an earthen damn without removing the wooded area where the lake itself was formed. The fish seemed to like this idea.
Nice information to know about...This purpose would not be my idea of a reason to go diving...yuck!
