Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Buoy release

Hi Carlos. And to all.....The barrel thing is just a way to quantify a given object that's familiar in size to most people.
As a rescue device, it won't work. Too much trouble in a bad situation.
The lift bag idea has merit, and could possibly be investigated.
It may be possible to send a self inflating lift bag down to a stricken sub following a relatively light cable or line. Now just what the sub's occupant would do with it once it arrived is something else.
The sub would need an arm to attach the bag to a lifting eye and activate the air bottle. That's if the bag some how got within reach of the arm.
In the best case scenario, it would only raise the sub to a level divers could reach it, but hey!...that's not such a bad idea. Once it's up near  the surface, divers could attach more bags, barrels, or even a crane hook if you have one. Just looking out the window and seeing the surface after being trapped below would feel pretty damn good I bet. Frank D.
