Hi Carlos. And to all.....The barrel thing is just a way to quantify a
given object that's familiar in size to most people.
As a rescue device, it won't work. Too much trouble in a bad
situation.
The lift bag idea has merit, and could possibly be investigated.
It may be possible to send a self inflating lift bag down to a stricken sub
following a relatively light cable or line. Now just what the sub's occupant
would do with it once it arrived is something else.
The sub would need an arm to attach the bag to a lifting eye and activate
the air bottle. That's if the bag some how got within reach of the arm.
In the best case scenario, it would only raise the sub to a level divers
could reach it, but hey!...that's not such a bad idea. Once it's up near
the surface, divers could attach more bags, barrels, or even a crane hook if you
have one. Just looking out the window and seeing the surface after being trapped
below would feel pretty damn good I bet. Frank D.
