Jon, I almost missed the most obvious downside to having a single rotatable hydrophone...rotational shafts have a tendency to be leak points. Turning a small hand wheel to page thru stationary hydrophones avoids this problem and should render the exact same results. It is only thru continued testing that I will be able to determine just how directional a system of this type can be and just how to best use such a system aboard a small submarine.
